Art Centre of the Year

Almost 2 years ago, we were finally handed the keys to our Gallery & Coffee Shop. At that point we were in despair after the trials we’d faced and on the brink of giving up… yes we were that close!

There was still much work to do, to get the premises from neglect to the vibrant welcoming space that it is today… but we did it, through sheer determination to give something different to the town.

This year, as for many small businesses, should have seen us thriving… then Covid19 happened.  It has knocked us back again mentally and financially, but we still persevere.

We had done so much research before setting up, with years of experience and us both having Quality backgrounds, we came up with the idea and ethos that is ‘The Messy Hare Gallery & Coffee Shop’.

There is nothing else like it in the town. We have been approached by a number of others who have asked us to either set up other similar models, or assist them, and have seen through our vision, others with similar passion for the community, starting to set up their own hubs. This warms our ‘art’ (sorry).

We have given employment, and space for many local and further afield artists to flourish, and a space accessible to all, where you can relax, escape to, learn arts and crafts and nurture your creative skills, all under one roof.

So, despite the hard times faced, we were over the moon to receive an award.  We are now ‘Art Centre of the Year’ through the Central England Prestige Awards.

Thank you to our artists, team and customers who have been supporting us, it is much appreciated, especially in these uncertain times.

Whilst we struggle during the current climate, we will continue to work hard to keep this Art Centre of the Year going.  Please remember this Christmas, and throughout the year that, just a card, just a coffee, just a workshop… goes a long way in supporting a small independent business like us and our staff and artists, and will enable us to continue to offer a much needed creative oasis.

All our love

Michele & Kev x
