The Messy Hare Gallery & Coffee Shop was born from the passion of artist and Communications professional, Michele McDonald for all things Creative (and her Hare) and her husband Kev, a trained chef, from his creative flair for fine dining.
Michele has been a supporter of community involvement and the benefits of creativity for improved mental wellbeing for many years. This resolve was strengthened following the death of her brother Sam to Mental Health Illness in 2011. His best times were spent when creating. This was either through written word, woodwork, metalwork or pottery.
Kev lost his mum, Dot, in January 2017 to cancer. She worked into her 70s at a cafe for a charity supporting cancer and it was this same charity which supported her in her final days. It is Dot’s legacy which has now enabled the creative hub to come to fruition and for which we shall be forever grateful.
