Kintsugi Collection

The Kintsugi Collection was designed by resident mixed media artist and co-owner of The Messy Hare Gallery & Coffee Shop, Michele McDonald.

Her concept being that we are all a little broken, but there is strength in joining the pieces back together with invisible seams of gold to make us the beautiful people we are, no matter how many times we break.

Kintsugi in Japanese means ‘Golden Joinery’. The repair of broken things with a mix containing precious metal such as gold. The idea being, that even broken things can still be beautiful.

Michele lost her brother to mental health in 2011, and as part of the collection, she has designed a motivational quote in the form of an A5 booklet dedicated to him.  It is in the hope that it will give some support at times when we doubt ourselves.

The 5 original drawings are graphite with gold leaf and will be displayed once the gallery can re-open.

In addition to the booklet, there are A4 prints on heavy weight gesso paper and Postcards, which can be purchased individually, or as part of a pack.
